Rob is a British club DJ and BBC Radio 1 broadcaster and the founder and curator of the multi award-winning Bestival festivals: Bestival held each September on the Isle of Wight, and now Camp Bestival which is a family friendly event in Dorset at the end of July.
Rob founded independent record label 'Sunday Best' in 1995 and has since propelled Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip and teenage rockabillies Kitty, Daisy and Lewis into the charts. It was the Sunday Best events which evolved into the Bestival festival. He also has his own weekly show on Radio 1 with a hugely loyal following around the world. Additionally, Rob is founder of the Association of Independent Festivals, representing the interests of a hugely important sector of the live music industry. Rob is also a record artist as Lazyboy, with a new album due in 2011.
Josie da Bank is the reason that Bestival looks different to other UK festivals. Her illustrated hippie chic world appears on everything from adverts to the website to hand-drawn Christmas gift cards and kids’ T-shirts. But Josie does more than provide a visual wrapping for her BBC Radio 1 DJ husband’s music choice (Mr Rob da Bank), not only is she creative director of Bestival but she also produces the whole event.
The line up for Bestival 2010 includes Dizzee Rascal, The Prodigy and The Flaming Lips - for more info please visit http://www.bestival.net/
There are still a limited number of tickets available for Camp Bestival where this year's line up includes The Human League, George Clinton & The Parliament Funkadelic and Marc Almond. Other family friendly attractions include workshops with The English National Ballet, boutique babysitting and kids theatre workshops. This all takes place in the magnificent grounds of Lulworth Castle in Dorset.
