Freema Agyeman is a British actress who is best known for playing Martha Jones in Doctor Who alongside David Tennant.

After completing a degree in performing arts, Freema began her acting career with a number of small roles in programmes such as Casualty, Mile High and Silent Witness. However, in March 2007 she won the coveted 'assistant' role replacing Billie Piper. Since the official departure of her character at the end of 2007, Freema has returned to make a number of appearances in subsequent episodes of the show and its spin-off series, Torchwood, starring John Barrowman.

Freema could most recently be seen in ‘Little Dorrit', the 2008 BBC adaptation of the famous Charles Dickens novel. She played Tattycoram and received several fantastic reviews.

This year Freema will be taking the helm of the highly-anticipated ‘Law & Order: UK”. A spin-off from the hugely popular US Law & Order franchise, Freema will play court prosecutor Alesha Philips. We are expecting this to air around Feb/March.
